The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of ex minister Paddy Zhanda ‘s sonĀ  , Michael Zhanda (40) for assault .

Michael Zhanda is son to business man and former Zanu-PF cabinet minister Paddy Zhanda.

Reference is made to the assault case involving Zhanda (40) of Chipfumbi Farm which went viral. The ZRP confirms that Zhanda (40) has been arrested and appeared in court today facing three counts of assault,” the ZRP said on Twitter.”The suspect assaulted Dickson Nyatadzi (34), Nyasha Samalani (30) and Loveness Madziva (29) for alleged stealing 150 kgs of potatoes in his field. The incident occurred on 26/01/23 at around 1400 hours.

“Meanwhile, the complainants are also facing theft allegations for theft of 150 kgs of potatoes. Employers are warned against taking the law into their own hands when workers commit crime.

Michael Zhanda is seen in the videos brutalising a man and two women accusing them of stealing potatoes from his farm. The 40-year-old son of former Zanupf minister Paddy Zhanda was charged with three counts of assault on after he was filmed assaulting the three farm workers.

Police said Michael Zhanda of Chipfumbi Farm in Goromonzi, made an initial court appearance at the Harare Magistrates court after the three workers filed complaints over the January 26 incident.

National police spokesman Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the three workers Dickson Nyatadzi, 34, Nyasha Salamani, 30, and Loveness Madziva, 29, had also been arrested after Zhanda accused them of stealing 150kg of potatoes from the farm.
